L'Associazione Sahrawi delle vittime delle mine (ASAVIM) ha condannato la costruzione di un nuovo muro con le mine antiuomo nell'area di Guerguerat, a sud-ovest del Sahara occidentale.
In un comunicato emesso, ASAVIM ha invitato la comunità internazionale e i suoi organi competenti e tutti gli attori, in particolare la Campagna internazionale per vietare le mine terrestri (ICBL) e la Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC), a sollecitare ed esercitare pressioni sul Marocco per attuare i requisiti del diritto internazionale umanitario, il divieto di utilizzare mine antiuomo nel Sahara occidentale.

Communiqué
The Moroccan occupation army constructed on November 13th a new wall in Guerguerat area, southwest of Western Sahara, surrounded by thousands of planted anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, which is a major setback for the peace efforts that the international community has been working on and demanding their implementation.
No doubt that mine planting is a condemned act, a crime against humanity, increases the tragedy of defenseless civilians and deepens the various effects resulting from the excessive use of them in Western Sahara, not to mention the waste of international efforts that have been made in the past years in the fight against mines.
The Sahrawi Association of Mine Victims spares no effort in partnership with national and international actors to prevent new victims, and renews its support and accompaniment to the national and international endeavors, accompanying the victims, taking care of them and defending their rights, in accordance with its modest potentials.
On this occasion, the Sahrawi Association of Mine Victims strongly condemns this act and holds the Moroccan state fully responsible for the continued incidents of new victims due to its refusal to commit to signing the ban on mines and cluster bombs.
The Sahrawi Association of Mine Victims calls on the international community and its relevant bodies and all actors, in particular the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) and the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC), to urge and exert pressure on Morocco to implement the requirements of international humanitarian law and human rights law, including the prohibition of the use of anti-personnel mines and cluster bombs.
