《♦️》The Sands of Western Sahara Swallow the Makhzen Occupation Entity

🔻 The latest annual report of the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, submitted to the United Nations Security Council, draws a clear line under years of deceptive propaganda practiced by Morocco’s Makhzen royal establishment. For decades, this entity, built on authoritarianism and rent-seeking, has excelled at selling illusions both domestically and abroad, promoting alleged diplomatic victories and attempting to impose a policy of fait accompli on the territory of Western Sahara. Yet the real shock suffered by the entity’s security and political establishment was the legal and moral slap contained in the UN report, which returned the dispute to its first legitimate framework: the #inalienablerightoftheSaharawiPeople to #selfdetermination.
A close reading of Guterres’s report, particularly what is stated in its tenth paragraph, reveals that the United Nations, despite all the pressures and lobbies mobilized by the money of Moroccan taxpayers, has not moved one inch away from the foundational principles of international law. When the Personal Envoy, Staffan de Mistura, stresses that any autonomy proposal must meet { the highest international standards }, be accompanied by { international guarantees }, and proceed through consensus via a genuine { consultation process } with the Sahrawi people, the United Nations is effectively pulling the rug from beneath the feet of the Makhzen security-based approach.
This characterization explicitly rejects the formula of absolute sovereignty that the entity of the sixth son of Latifa seeks to market, and dismantles its thesis that reduces the solution to an international blessing of a #stillbornproject, which possesses none of the elements of democratic legitimacy.
From my position as a Moroccan republican political critic, who completely rejects the legitimacy of this #medievalentity, I see this UN position as an explicit exposure of the Makhzen’s policy of maneuvering and buying time. The latter believed that purchasing political positions from some Western capitals, through dubious commercial deals and disgraceful concessions of sovereignty, would be sufficient to erase the Sahrawi national identity and bring the issue to an end. However, international legitimacy has once again demonstrated that it is not subject to the logic of buying and selling in the markets of secret diplomacy. The report categorically affirmed the impossibility of continuing to deprive the people of Western Sahara of their fundamental right, considering the status quo unsustainable. This strikes at the very heart of the official narrative that seeks to convince the Moroccan people that the issue has been definitively settled.
The Makhzen setback becomes even clearer in the report’s disclosure of the details of the amended formula for the autonomy proposal, which revealed the scale of contradiction and confusion within the structure of the #MakhzenGang. The amendments that sought to entrench the power of direct royal appointment of the head of the local government instead of electing him reflect a deep-seated fear within the decision-making center in Rabat of any genuine democratic margin, even if merely symbolic. This maneuver confirms to the world that the #SixthSonOfLatifaEntity has no genuine vision of partnership or peace, but is instead seeking an administrative façade subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior to legitimize its control over the region’s resources. Furthermore, the UN reference to a transitional phase and a framework agreement represents, in this context, an implicit acknowledgment that the current Moroccan presence is merely a #temporarystatus lacking international legal foundation, and that the solution cannot pass over the will of the people who own the land.
Accordingly, these developments impose upon the living forces and radical opposition in Morocco and abroad the need to confront the truth without equivocation. The continuation of this conflict fabricated by the #MakhzenMafia is nothing but a tool for draining the resources of the Moroccan people, justifying domestic repression, and postponing the urgent democratic milestones required to build a state governed by the rule of law on the basis of a #modernrepublicansystem.
The Western Sahara issue has become a scapegoat onto which the Makhzen projects its economic and social failures, attempting to mobilize the masses through a false nationalism fueled by hostility toward neighboring countries. Yet the latest UN report came to remind everyone that the train of liberation and emancipation cannot be stopped by diplomatic maneuvers, and that decolonization remains an international and moral obligation that does not lapse with time.
Ultimately, reality proves that the policy of imposing a fait accompli has reached a dead end, and that the mask has fallen from the face of an #occupyingentity that sees the state merely as a cover for a security and political authority, and deals with land, people, and resources solely through the logic of domination and control.
The Makhzen, as a mafia-like system based on authoritarianism, rent-seeking, and occupation, cannot indefinitely transform imposed power into legitimacy, a fait accompli into a right, or political propaganda into a legal reality. Its narrative has collided with the wall of international law, while the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination remains standing, no matter how long the maneuvering lasts, and no matter how many deals are made to purchase positions and whitewash the image of the reality of occupation. It is precisely here that the masks fall, and the sands of Western Sahara remain witness to the fact that history is not granted to gangs by force, that legitimacy cannot be seized through propaganda, and that the will of peoples cannot be buried beneath the sands of the desert.
