Moroccan forces violently crack down on protesters in occupied al-Ayun

Al-AYUN (Occupied Saharawi Territories)- Moroccan occupation forces have violently repressed a peaceful Saharawi protest in al-Ayun, who were claiming Western Sahara people's right to self-determination and independence, a Saharawi judicial source said Sunday. 
The Saharawi protestors chanted slogans calling for an end to Moroccan occupation and respect of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
They also demanded that all political Saharawi prisoners in Moroccan jails be set free, the source added.

Ahead of the trial of the Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group, Moroccan authorities have deployed military forces in the occupied towns to suppress the peaceful demonstrators calling for Western Sahara people's right to self-determination.

Major General of Bangladesh appointed MINURSO Force Commander

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres announced Thursday the appointment of Major General Fakhrul Ahsan of Bangladesh as Force Commander of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), the UN said in a statement. Major General Ahsan succeeds Major General Zia Ur Rehman of Pakistan who completed his assignment at the end of March 2022, according to the statement published on the UN website. Major General Ahsan has over 34 years of national and international military leadership experience with the Bangladeshi Army. He served as General Officer Commanding, of the 10th infantry division, and as Area Commander of the Cox's Bazar Area, as Commander of the Bangladeshi Military Academy, and as Brigade Commander in the 16th and 69th Infantry Brigade. SPLA carries out new attacks against Moroccan occupation forces in Farsia and Mahbes sectors

Birlahlou (Liberated Territories), 5 September 2022 (SPS) - Units of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) carried out new attacks against positions of the Moroccan occupying forces in the two sectors of Farsia and Mahbes, indicated Sunday the Sahrawi Ministry of Defense in its communiqué N 622. According to the communiqué, SPLA units bombarded occupying forces in the regions of Oudiat Echedida (Farsia sector), Laakad and Agouira Ould Abelal, Oudi Dhamran and Akrara Fersik (Mahbes sector). Advanced detachments of the Saharawi Army had targeted the Moroccan occupation forces entrenched in the sectors of Aousserd, Atouizki and Mahbès as well as in the regions of Guelb Nos, Tadarourt, Mesmar, Laakad and Agouira Ould Abelal, the communiqué concluded.
